Admissions/Requirements
The admission requirements for CDA's Maritime Welding Program are designed to ensure that you will benefit from the training and succeed in the industry.
To be considered for admission into the CDA Maritime Welding Program applicants must meet the following requirements:
- 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic math ability
- Mechanical ability
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card (see below for more information)
- Good physical health
- Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical: Must be completed on or before the first day of class
- Available from most doctor’s offices or on the first day of class for $65
Note: Many companies and all port workers are now required to carry a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
