The admission requirements for CDA's Maritime Welding Program are designed to ensure that you will benefit from the training and succeed in a welding career.
To be considered for admission into the CDA Maritime Welding Program applicants must meet the following requirements:
- 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic math skills
- Mechanical ability
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card (see below for more information)
- Good physical health
- Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical: Must be completed on or before the first day of class
- Available from most doctor’s offices or on the first day of class for $75
Note: Many companies and all port workers are now required to carry a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
